Orellana’s arrest comes the same day Senator Alex Padilla was violently assaulted at a Homeland Security press conference. We condemn Orellana’s arrest as a clear example of racist and political repression. After immense community pressure led by the Centro CSO, Orellana was released the following day! The power of the people are driving ICE back and freeing people like Orellano, and it will be the power of the people that get the Orellano’s charges dropped!

From its role in the killing and imprisonment of Black Panthers to its current role targeting activists organizing against racist ICE raids and deportations in predominantly Chicano and Latino neighborhoods, the FBI remains a vicious weapon of repression deployed against the movements of oppressed peoples.

The struggle is sharp in Los Angeles. The repression is intensifying, and the Trump administration is making it clear they have no plans to loosen up. Now is the time to stand in unconditional solidarity with Orellana, the people of Los Angeles, and with all immigrant communities under attack. Anything less than solidarity with Orellana and immigrant and Chicano communities would be a victory for the enemy, the same enemy responsible for the racist policing that kills record numbers every year.

We are entering another major wave of struggle. The only way to not be washed away by it is to take it to the streets and continue working with the broader masses opposing these racist raids and deportations and the Trump agenda. The struggle continues, and NAARPR will do all it can to defend Orellana and those being targeted by the Trump agenda.

Call U.S. Attorney Bilal Essayli at 213-894-2400 and tell him to drop the charges! We also encourage all our chapters and affiliates to participate in the Legalization For All’s Week of Action from June 14-21, calling for ICE and the National Guard to get out of our communities and for Orellana’s charges to be dropped!

Drop the charges!
ICE out of everywhere!
Community Control of the Police now!

May 25ᵗʰ Day of Action Opposing Trump’s Anti-George Floyd Act Executive Order

On April 28th, 2025, Donald Trump signed the so-called “Strengthening and Unleashing America’s Law Enforcement to Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Citizens” Executive Order (EO) into law, signifying a continued push towards the expansion of the police and prison state. This EO is the Trump administration’s attempt to undo any and all restraints put on police departments after the George Floyd rebellion. It is the Anti-George Floyd Policing Act. The EO gives police carte blanche to double down on their crimes against the people, along with expanding prisons. We knew Trump’s return to office would embolden racist and repressive policing. This EO makes it plain.

George Floyd was murdered by racist killer cop Derek Chauvin on May 25th, 2020. Following his murder, the Minneapolis community, including our National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR) branch, the Twin Cities Coalition for Justice, quickly mobilized and sparked a fire that led to millions hitting the streets worldwide to fight for justice for George Floyd and all victims of police terror. NAARPR played a conscious role in all cities where we have branches and affiliate organizations present in advancing the struggle on the streets. Five years later, we have experienced the failures of the previous presidential administration in passing any substantial police accountability measures. Now under Trump and his new EO, we see the forces of police terror seeking to advance their agenda at the expense of the voice of the people.

We call on all NAARPR branches, affiliate organizations to take action and unite with as many forces as possible on the 5-year anniversary of George Floyd’s murder to fight back against Trump’s anti-George Floyd executive order. We call on all strains of the people’s movement to unite and fight against Trump’s police and prison state agenda, along with the local struggles with the families of police crime victims. Only through uniting with all who can be united, can we build a united front to win community control of the police and make advancements towards ending police terror.

All out for May 25th!

Justice for George Floyd and all victims of police terror!
Rescind Trump’s police and prison state Executive Order!
Pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act!
Community Control of the police now!

NAARPR 2025 Conference Call to Action

Build the Movement to Defeat Trump's Agenda & Win Community Control of the Police!

REGISTER HERE

SEE PROGRAM

We issue this call for our fourth National Conference since our refounding in 2019. The National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression (NAARPR) was founded as a black-led, mass defense organization dedicated to defending the people’s movements. Today, we see the need to build an even stronger unity against the racist and reactionary agenda of Donald Trump and everything he represents. We call on all branches of NAARPR, our affiliate organizations and all sections of the people’s movement to join us in Chicago, Illinois at the Chicago Teachers Union Hall on November 14th-16th for our fourth National Conference.

Every day, we see the attacks launched by the Trump administration on basic democratic rights. From the administration targeting immigrants, federal workers, continued assaults on indigenous rights, healthcare and welfare funding, diversity, inclusion and equity programs, reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights along with continuing the genocide abroad in Palestine, we see a deliberate attempt to disarm our movements for human dignity and rollback gains so many have fought for. We see the rise of white supremacist vigilantism and an ever-increasing police and prison state that seeks to curtail our efforts.

However, as NAARPR, we have been on the front lines through it all, demanding community control of the police, uniting with families to win justice along with fighting to free political prisoners and the unjustly incarcerated. We have stood with our immigrant comrades to fight back against the unlawful and illegal deportations from ICE along with continuing to stand with the movement to stop the genocide in Gaza. We have and shall continue to fight back against the police and prison state. We have grown to well over thirty branches and affiliate organizations across the U.S., with new branches forming daily.

We organize on the basis of the slogan Unity + Organization + Struggle = Victory, and our movement has had several significant victories in the two years since our last conference. The Tampa 5, activists targeted by the University of South Florida with felony charges for standing up to Ron DeSantis's attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, had those charges dropped as a result of a successful mass defense campaign. Leonard Peltier, the longest serving political prisoner in U.S. history, whose defense campaign the National Alliance has been involved in since the 1970s, was finally brought home by executive pardon this year. In Chicago, over 200 wrongfully convicted people were freed by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office under Kim Foxx due to our movement's continuous organizing efforts, and Kevin Jackson had his sentence reversed by the appellate court, the first of the survivors of crooked sergeant Brian P. Forberg to be freed. These victories remind us that organizing works, and we have the tools to build the movement needed in this moment of heightened repression.

It is obvious Trump represents a clear and present danger to our communities. His movement is rooted in white supremacy and at its core rides the backlash of the Floyd rebellion in 2020, a rebellion that we took a clear part in advancing. There have even been conversations within the administration to pardon killer cop Derek Chauvin. Police killings continue with impunity, while so many of our communities remain under occupation. We understand that through fighting side by side with the families who are victims of police terror, we are able to organize against the cutting edge of racist national oppression, building stronger ties in our communities and advancing the people’s agenda.

It is clear that solidarity and organization remain our biggest weapon to defend our movements and communities and to defeat Trump's agenda.

This conference will be a space to organize, strategize, and mobilize. Together, we will continue to grow, learn from each other and build a movement for black liberation and the liberation of all oppressed peoples. Join us this November.

REGISTER HERE

SEE PROGRAM

Freedom is a Constant Struggle! In the spirit of Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull, Leonard has maintained his innocence and fought for his freedom for five decades.‌‌

The National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression has stood in unconditional solidarity with Leonard Peltier, the oldest and one of the longest held political prisoners in U.S. history.‌‌

The reason the federal government held Leonard in captivity and behind bars for half a century is not because he was guilty of any crime but because the FBI agents who were killed were white men. Leonard himself said “When a white is killed, even if he brought it on himself, all Indians are guilty. Isn’t that the way it’s always been?”‌‌

Yes, that is the way it’s always been. However, with Leonard the situation is even more aggravated by the fact that he is a freedom fighter for his oppressed people.‌‌

Decades ago, Leonard’s lawyer, Ramsey Clark (former Attorney General of the United States) said, “I think I can explain beyond serious doubt that Leonard Peltier committed no crime whatsoever.”‌‌

We now know that the government knew what Ramsey Clark knew, yet they refused to release Leonard.‌‌

Leonard was accused of murder in 1975 and in 1985 the government prosecution admitted, “We did not know who shot the agents...” he was accused of killing. Forty-nine years later a government prosecutor repeated this admitted truth to President Biden. Apparently, Biden listened, and in response to the demands of the people, at the age of 80 and after 50 years of torturous imprisonment, Leonard is coming home.‌‌

It’s definitely a people’s victory and we celebrate it as such. It is not “Justice at Last.”‌‌

We acknowledge and salute the Indigenous people’s movement, Leonard Peltier’s family, and his decades long standing Defense Committee. It was the mass movement of the people demanding justice that moved President Biden to issue an order of Executive Clemency.‌‌

Based on the evidence, Leonard deserved an apology and a pardon of innocence. The sober reality is that the U.S. government continues its genocidal policies against the Dakota people and all the Indigenous people of America.‌‌

We stand in unconditional solidarity with the first nations in demanding their sovereign rights and their struggles for freedom.

No Jail Time, No Fine! The Uhuru 3 face no Jail time and no fines after being targeted, groundlessly charged, bogusly convicted by the FBI for their organizing for black liberation. The FBI tried to set a legal precedent for criminalizing international solidarity and criminalizing free speech — and they LOST! When we fight we win!

The Uhuru 3 waged a bold defense campaign, in the streets and in the courthouse to fight back against FBI and state repression. On July 29th, 2022 they had their homes, offices, and lives turned upside down for over 2 years. They never strayed from their views and spoke out against this unjust attack.

On December 12th, 2024, three leaders of the African Peoples’ Socialist Party (APSP) and the Uhuru movement were faced with 5 years in prison and 250K fines each for a bogus conviction of conspiracy. The Judge ruled no jail time and no fines. The Uhuru 3 pledged to continue to fight to overturn their previous conviction on bogus charges.

This win is a testament to the strength of the community, particularly the community of St. Pete and Tampa who consistently came out in support of the Uhuru 3 every step of the way. As a mass defense organization, NAARPR is proud to have stood in solidarity with the Uhuru 3 at their rallies, with the Tampa Alliance offering messages of solidarity and defense, regularly updating our members and networks of their case, attending the court proceedings, and even having Jainabah Lumumba, APSP member and daughter of APSP Chairman Omali Yeshetila, speaking on behalf of the Uhuru 3 at the NAARPR Southern Regional Conference. We will continue to stand in solidarity as they wage a battle to reverse the wrongful conviction.

Victory to the UHURU 3!‌‌Solidarity is not a crime!‌‌Free speech is not a crime!

HandsOffUhuru

NAARPR Southern Regional Organizing Conference 2024 Call to Action

This December 6th-8th, the National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression (NAARPR) is convening our inaugural Southern Regional Organizing Conference in Jacksonville, Florida. This conference will bring together progressive forces in the South fighting for Black liberation, Indigenous rights and land sovereignty. We are fighting back against police crimes and political repression to free all those unjustly incarcerated as well as defending all progressive movements fighting for a just society. NAARPR, which arose out of the movement to Free Angela Davis, was refounded in 2019 with well over two dozen branches and affiliate organizations nationwide. Since the 2020 George Floyd uprisings, NAARPR has seen a growth in new organizing struggles in cities across the country; specifically, in the Black Belt Region of the Deep South, the historic homelands of Africans trafficked to North America, where the majority of their descendants still live today.

This conference will be taking place in Jacksonville, Florida. As we have seen the past few years, Florida has been home to some of the harshest forms of political repression happening today. This includes the passage of anti-protest laws such as HB1, attempted repression of the Tampa 5 and others fighting against racism, right wing government attempts seeking to ban the teaching of Black history in education, bigoted laws targeting reproductive rights, immigrants, the LGBTQIA+ community. In spite of all this, NAARPR branches and affiliate organizations, notably those in Jacksonville, Tampa, Tallahassee, New Orleans, Atlanta, the District of Columbia, Dallas, and Charleston have made great gains in fighting back and building the people’s struggle. These branches join in the struggle and fight for the movement’s right to demand: community control of the police, land sovereignty, labor rights, universal housing, reproductive freedom, quality health care and education; reparations; and environmental justice.

Our work across the South today is a continuation of a longstanding liberation struggle being waged by Black and Indigenous people. Since the first Africans were trafficked here to provide free slave labor on stolen Indigenous land, we have struggled for our freedom. As a national mass defense organization, we fight for self-determination and political power, a right that has been denied to Black people in the South since Reconstruction. NAARPR branches nationwide understand the significance of international solidarity with oppressed people across the globe. We have extended our unequivocal support to the Palestinian people’s struggle and the liberation of all oppressed nations. We acknowledge that our liberation is inextricably connected.

The NAARPR Southern Regional Organizing Conference is a chance to hear about and learn from the work of organizers from across the South against the backdrop of this history. We call on all those nationwide to converge and join us. We know the South is ground zero for the repressive forces that are sure to touch the rest of the country. By uniting our movements, we become invincible. Join us this December because—THE SOUTH GOT SOMETHING TO SAY!

NAARPR Condemns Repression on U.S. Campuses

The National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression (NAARPR) stands in full solidarity with the student movement in the U.S. and condemns the repression waged by university administrators against students for their admirable support for Palestine.

The student movement is carrying forward solidarity efforts with Palestine in a rapid

National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression

The National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression (NAARPR) stands in full solidarity with the student movement in the U.S. and condemns the repression waged by university administrators against students for their admirable support for Palestine.

The student movement is carrying forward solidarity efforts with Palestine in a rapid and inspiring fashion. Each day, new encampments are established across university and college campuses. Students are exercising their First Amendment rights and demanding universities and their administrators divest from and cut all ties to Israel. Where universities have failed to take action, students have taken matters into their own hands and are demanding for an end to the genocide in Palestine. A new world where Palestine is free is being born, and these brave students are making sure that it arrives within their lifetimes!

However, as campuses are turned into encampment zones, university administrators have given the green light to the repressive arms of the state to violently assault anyone standing with Palestine. Whether they are calling on university police, local law enforcement agencies or the National Guard, these cowardly administrators are seeking to repress the student movement. We are witnessing hundreds of police officers descending on campuses and making mass arrests of students and faculty. Riot police are being deployed to violently attack community members and the press who surround the encampment zones.

University administrators are operating in conjunction with the Biden administration, Congress, and law enforcement to attack students’ First Amendment rights and hold steadfast in their support of genocide. If it wasn’t previously clear, these attacks should signify to all that we are in the middle of a vicious wave of political repression in this country. The chickens have come home to roost, and the ugly face of repression has zeroed in on the students.

In order to successfully defeat this repression, we must continue to operate in unity with the student movement. Since October, we have called for and participated in numerous national calls to action with the student organizations leading these efforts - Students for Democratic Society (SDS), Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), and Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM). Our solidarity with the student movement only grows stronger in the face of this repression.

As such, the NAARPR and all our branches and affiliate organizations call for national solidarity with the student movement and the broader movement for Palestinian liberation. We join National SDS in their following demands:

Universities fully divest from Israel

Universities carry out an academic boycott in Israel

Universities condemn Israel for its genocide in Gaza

The protection of first amendment rights to free speech, protest, and academic freedom

President Biden and Congress end all U.S. aid to Israel.

National Alliance Condemns Attacks on People’s Movements by Right Wing Florida Legislature

The National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression (NAARPR) condemns attacks by Governor Ron DeSantis and the right wing dominated legislature in Florida. During this current legislative session, the Florida Legislature is poised to pass legislation targeting the movements for police accountability, the labor movement, the movement to end white supremacy and remove confederate monuments, attacks on the right to organize for a free Palestine, as well as continued attacks on LGBTQ students, and a continued onslaught on the immigrant community and all oppressed peoples.

NAARPR and all our branches and affiliate organizations call for national solidarity with all the progressive forces in Florida fighting back in this political climate, including the numerous NAARPR branches and affiliate organizations who are fighting on the frontlines against these repressive forces.

One especially dangerous bill for the national movement against police crimes is Senate Bill 576/ House Bill 601. This bill, the first of its kind nationally, seeks to ban all methods of civilian oversight from local cities and counties, concentrating even more power into the hands of police chiefs, sheriffs and police unions. We understand that what racist and bigoted forces are seeking to do in Florida seeks to serve as a model for their efforts nationally.

As a national mass defense organization, we pledge to stand with those in Florida fighting against these attacks on our movements and our right to organize. We call for every section of the people’s movement to do the same.

Dump DeSantis!
Stop the attacks on the people’s movements!
Kill the bill! He spent 22 years in solitary confinement in Illinois prisons, fought to free himself and won, and went on to become an advocate of ending the unfettered use of solitary confinement in Illinois prisons, a tool of racist and political repression against the incarcerated. In response to his advocacy, he was targeted by the police in Rock Island, Illinois, and reincarcerated on a false gun charge. Due to the claim that the weapon Anthony was falsely charged with possessing crossed state lines, the charges he faced were federal. Despite achieving a hung jury in his first federal trial while representing himself, Anthony faced an all-white jury at his second trial and was convicted of these false charges and sentenced to 7 years in the federal prison system (Bureau of Prisons).

Anthony’s family and supporters have not heard from him since October 2023, and recently learned that he had been transferred from Terre Haute federal prison in Indiana to the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners (MCFP) without their knowledge. Due to Anthony’s past experience with extended isolation, denying him access to communication with the outside world is particularly detrimental to his health. But more than that, it is a violation of his rights, and we must stand with Anthony in demanding his access to communication be restored.

At our 2023 National Conference, the National Alliance agreed to take this case up as a national priority, fighting for Anthony’s freedom and to end the conditions he struggles against within the racist criminal legal system. We call on all our branches and affiliate organizations, and all those who care about justice, to mobilize pressure against the Bureau of Prisons by contacting the Warden of U.S. MCFP, Eric Williams, and the office of the North Central Region of BOP, to demand Anthony’s communication be restored immediately. Let’s make our message known that we will not stand by while Anthony is subjected to the continuous torture of isolation! All out for Anthony Gay! These charges rely solely on support of the Stop Cop City movement, a grassroots effort to save the Weelaunee Forest and resist efforts to build a $90 million police training facility from being built. These bogus, trumped up charges attack bail fund organizers, legal observers, protestors, and community members listing May 25th 2020, the date that George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis, in all the indictments. This marks that these indictments are a clear attack on the movement for justice that had as many as 26 million in the streets demanding real change for their communities and growing organizations in cities across the country as the people have continued fighting for what they deserve.

This is the latest in a string of repression facing activists in Atlanta. The shooter’s attack on the Dollar General led to the murders of three African American individuals, Angela Michelle Carr, 52, an Uber driver who was killed in the parking lot; Anolt Joseph Laguerre Jr., known as A.J., 29, who worked at the store; and Jerrald De’Shaun Gallion, 19, who was murdered by the shooter while walking inside the store with his girlfriend. The white supremacist shooter killed himself before police arrived at the Dollar General. The shooter left a racist manifesto and carved swastikas on the rifle he used to carry out the attack.

The National Alliance extends our deepest condolences to the victims' families.

This act of racist white supremacist terror in Jacksonville comes on the anniversary, 63 years and one day of Axe Handle Saturday, a day where young NAACP youth activists and other black folks rallied to desegregate downtown Jacksonville restaurants and were met with attacks by over a 200 klansmen and white racist vigilantes, drawing national controversy. The racists attacks were repealed when the local black street gang “the Boomerangs” fought back the attacks. Later reports showed that police aided the white supremacists.

Acts of white supremacist terror are far from new in this country, particularly in the black belt south where Jacksonville resides. Black people in Jacksonville have long been victims of racist policies, racist policing, political disenfranchisement along with facing attacks by white supremacists and racist vigilantes. More recently, black people in Jacksonville along with black folks across Florida have had to endure the political mandate of racist Governor Ron DeSantis who has launched unprecedented attacks against the BLM movement, banning certain black history in schools, taking away a black congressional seat via racist gerrymandering along with other racist policies in his so-called, “war on woke”. When he spoke at a vigil the following day after the attack, he was booed by black residents. A day later on August 28th,, NAARPR affiliate, the Jacksonville Community Action Committee, along with other community organizations led a march of over 1,000 people to demand an end to white supremacy and racist terror.

The National Alliance unites with local demands for an end to white supremacy, along with calls for the creation of a Public Safety Committee as a means of civilian oversight, along with uniting with demands of taking down all remaining confederate monuments in the city. Local demands also include the demands for economic empowerment in the black community, along with improvements in neighborhood infrastructure.

The National Alliance is calling for branches and affiliate organizations to remember the victims while continuing the fight against racist terror.

Justice for Angela Michelle Carr, Anolt Joseph Laguerre Jr and Jerrald De’Shaun Gallion!

Justice for all victims of white supremacist terror and down with white supremacy!
